PURPOSE: To accurately detect the phase difference between right and left images that the right and left sensor arrays receive through light paths different from each other so as to detect the distance, etc., of an object, without being obstructed by the stray light by the bright background, etc., of the object. CONSTITUTION: Correction is made so that a difference may not occur between arrays in time average values of right and left groups of sensor data DR and DL which show the patterns of the images of an object 1 by right and left photosensor arrays 3L and 3R. A plurality of combinations C0-Cm of right and left partial groups dL and dR consisting of a fixed number of consecutive sensor data abstracted each from the groups of sensor data DL and DR after correction are made, with the position of abstraction slid in order, and the combination where both partial groups dL and dR show the maximum correlation is picked out to detect the phase difference from the position where these partial groups are abstracted from the sensor groups DL and DR. |
