PURPOSE: To obtain a method for easily producing an optical fiber coupler of a fusion stretching type at a good yield. CONSTITUTION: The coatings 2 of terminal parts 9 on respectively one-side ends of >=4 pieces of even number of optical fibers 1a, 1b,... are removed to expose bare optical fibers 10a, 10b,.... Two pieces of the optical fibers 1a, 1b among these fibers are made to ont set and their respective exposed end faces 11 of the bare optical fibers 10a, 10b are fusion spliced to each other to form the optical fibers haivng intermediate bare fiber parts and >=2 pieces of the optical fibers having intermediate bare fiber parts are brought into contact with each other at the intermediate bare fiber parts. The bare optical fibers in the contact parts are fusion spliced and stretched to form fusion spliced and stretched parts. |
