PURPOSE: To obtain a CaO-TiO2 -ZrO2 -based refractory material suitable as an alumina stickproofing material for dipping nozzles or refractory material for clean steel. CONSTITUTION: This CaO-TiO2 -ZrO2 -based refractory material consists mainly of CaO, TiO2 and ZrO2 , stands within the composition range expressed by a CaO-TiO3 -based material containing 36-51wt.% of CaO and CaO-ZrO2 -based material containing 16-31wt.% of CaO (see the slash marks in the figure), and contains >=1wt.% of ZrO2 and >=5wt.% of TiO2 . This refractory material is highly resistant to slaking, and although this material itself has high melting point and heat resistance, a low-melting matter is produced on reaction of this material with Al2 O3 , presenting a moderate viscosity. This refractory material is suitable as an alumina stickproofing material for dipping nozzles or refractory material for clean steel, having excellent effects in these applications. |
