PURPOSE: To provide a pulse generator which does not require any complicated hardware configuration, can reduce the load on the software, and can change the frequency of pulse signals to a high frequency in an arbitrary pattern. CONSTITUTION: A counter 6 counts the number of pulses of pulse signals PLS outputted from a pulse generator 3 and a first comparator compares the count value CT of the counter 6 with a number P1 of output pulses set in a first register 4. A second comparator 7 compares the count value CT of the counter 6 with a number P2 of change preparing pulses set in a second register 8 and a CPU 1 starts the preparation of the next frequency dividing ratio (f) and numbers of pulses P1 and P2 in response to a second coincidence signal M2 from the second comparator 7 and sets the prepared frequency dividing ratio (f) and numbers of pulses P1 and P2 in response to a first coincidence signal M1 front the first comparator 5. |
