PURPOSE: To select a type of a telephone set depending on a status by providing a common interface by which a system control section of a telephone set main body is used in common for another different telephone system. CONSTITUTION: When power is applied to the telephone set, a system control section 3 checks the presence and a type of a line control section 4 and a call control section 5 or the like through a common interface 1 used in common for various telephone sets to execute whether or not the telephone set is usable. After the end of the check, the type of the telephone set used at present and whether or not the telephone set is usable are informed to the user by a display, sound, voice means. Then the telephone set is usable for a conventional telephone set. Furthermore, personal information is provided to common components (components other than removable component) and a personal information registration means is provided to a connection destination exchange (intra-station exchange or private branch of exchange) of the telephone set to manage (management of charging by individuals or the like) as a personal telephone set.
