PURPOSE: To reduce the whole size and cost of a power converter by utilizing a common resistor for obtaining a rush current suppressing function to be exerted at the time of making power supply and a discharging function which prevents the boosting of the terminal voltage of a capacitor caused by a regenerative current. CONSTITUTION: A power converter 21 is provided with a rectifier circuit 23 which inputs the output of a three-phase AC power source 22 and capacitor 24 for smoothing rectified outputs and electric power is supplied to a motor 26 from both ends of the converter 24 through an inverter device 25. A conducting path change-over switch 27 is connected between the circuit 23 and capacitor 24 and a discharge circuit 28 composed of a serial circuit of a resistor 29 and IGBT 30 is connected to both ends of a serial circuit of the capacitor 24 and switch 27. A diode 31 which makes the charging current of the capacitor 24 to flow from the circuit 24 through the resistor 29 when the switch 27 is turned off is connected between the common connecting point of the resistor 29 and IGBT 30 and the positive terminal of the capacitor 24. |
