PURPOSE: To obtain an alumina-magnesia-based monolithic refractory for casting works, excellent in spalling resistance and resistance to slag infiltrability. CONSTITUTION: This monolithic refractory for casting works contains, as the main aggregates, 80-98 pts.wt. of an alumina-based material, 1-20 pts.wt. of a magnesia material and 1-10 pts.wt. of zircon sand, and optionally, may be blended with <=30 pts.wt. of a spinel material. For this refractory, incorporation of the zircon sand prevents cracking and debonding, and the refractory fully presents the corrosion resistance and resistance to slag infiltrability both inherent in alumina-magnesia-based material. |
