PURPOSE: To provide a smalls-sized and highly accurate piezoelectric oscillator for a piezoelectric oscillatory gyroscope of simple constitution which does not need to bond a piezoelectric element to an oscillator. CONSTITUTION: This is a piezoelectric oscillator in a piezoelectric oscillatory gyroscope making use of such dynamical phenomena that oscillation occurs in the direction Y of oscillation vertical to the direction X of oscillation in the piezoelectric oscillator by Coriolis force generated vertically to the direction of oscillation when the piezoelectric oscillator oscillated in the direction X of oscillation is given rotational angle velocity. This has an oscillator 1 consisting of a pillar-shaped piezoelectric element having a flat pillar face vertical to the direction X of oscillation, and electrodes 3-1, 3-2, and 3-3 made at one flat pillar face and extended in parallel with the axial direction of the piezoelectric element. The electrode 3-2 caught between the electrodes 3-1 and 3-2 is impressed with AC voltage for oscillating the oscillator 1 in the direction x of oscillation, and the electrodes 3-1 and 3-2 detect the generation of electric fields of mutually reverse phases by the oscillation in the direction of oscillation of the oscillator 1, as output currents, respectively. |
