PURPOSE: To provide a luminaire which makes a lamp lighted automatically when a person approaches to a set place and makes the lamp put out when the person goes out thereafter. CONSTITUTION: A control circuit 40 turns on a switch element S to light an incandescent lamp 5 when a detecting result is output from a pyroelectrid element 43 in the condition the brightness level detected by a light receiving element 42 is less than a specific level. After that, when the detecting output from the pyroelectric element 43 is stopped, the switch element S is turned off after a specific time elapses to put out the incandescent lamp 5.
