PURPOSE: To obtain a new DNA polymerase activity inhibitor capable of expanding a development range of a new medicine and a seed formation inhibitor comprising the inhibitor as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This invention relates to DNA polymeraseαactivity inhibitor, andβactivity inhibitors A and B. A DNA polymeraseαactivity inhibitor is obtained from a mycelium of a basidiomycete belonging to Polyporaceae or Lycoperdaceae, is soluble in acetone, is transferred to a hexane layer in a hexane layer/water layer (pH2) and has 0.5 Rf value in silica gel TLC (chloroform:methanol:acetic acid = 130:5:0.1). A DNA polymeraseβactivity inhibitor A is obtained from a mycelium of a basidiomycete belonging to Polyporaceae or Lycoperdaceae, is soluble in acetone, is transferred to an n- butanol layer in an n-butanol layer/water layer (pH2), is transferred to a 80% methanol-water layer in a hexane layer/80% methanol-water layer and has 0.4 Rf value in silica gel TLC (ethyl acetate:methanol:water = 10:1:0.5). A DNA polymeraseβactivity inhibitor B has the same properties as those of the DNA polymeraseβactivity inhibitor A except that it has 0.5 Rf value in silica gel TLC (ethyl acetate:methanol:water = 10:1:0.5).
