PURPOSE: To automatically transform and set a format and printing layout to be suited for a paper size and its utilizing state by transforming a default format into a format suited for paper size information based on paper size information read by a scanner. CONSTITUTION: In preparing a document, etc., at the time of setting a paper to the scanner 4, CPU 1 executes a scanner information program 202 developed on a main memory unit (MM) 2 to, read the size and the utilizing state of the paper set to the scanner 4. Based on read size information (1), the default value of the format and the printing layout is automatically transformed and set to be the format and the printing format determined in advance. Consequently, an operator can prepare and print the document only by setting a paper to use on the scanner 4 corresponding to the using state, without thinking about the format and the printing layout. |
