A C-terminal amidating enzyme composition derived from serum or plasma which acts on a C-terminal glycine adduct represented by the following formula: <IMG> (I) (wherein A represents a residue other than .alpha.-carboxyl group and an .alpha.-amino group or imino group derived from naturally occurring .alpha.-amino acid, X represents hydrogen atom or a residue of an amino acid derivative which is bonded to N atom through carbonyl group) to participate in the reaction for forming a C-terminal amidated product represented by the following formula: <IMG> (II) (wherein A and X have the same meanings as above) and glyoxylic acid, a process for preparing the same, and a method of utilizing the same.
