PURPOSE: To make it possible to easily and surely recognize the residual quantity of an optical fiber by applying markings to indicate the number of residual winding layers on the surfaces of the respective winding layers of the optical fiber wound on a bobbin. CONSTITUTION: The markings 3 to indicate the number of the residual winding layers are applied to the surfaces of the respective windinng layers of the optical fiber 2 of the plural layers wound round the bobbin 1. At what number of the layers the optical fiber remains is easily known by viewing the marks 3 of the optical fiber spooler which is mounted on a remote controlled moving body of, for example, an unmanned submarine machine, etc., and executes optical communication. The winding quantity of the optical fiber at every layer is calculatable from the shape and size of the bobbin 1 and the winding method and, therefore, the residual length of the optical fiber is known if the number of the layers is known. The optical fiber 1 is intermittently marked over the entire length when the marks 3 consisting of longitudinal lines are applied on the optical fiber and, therefore, the number of the let-off layers of the optical fiber is known. Further, the residual length is easily known even if the number of the winding layers is large by indicating the marks at the varied numbers and colors of the longitudinal lines. |
