DEFORMED CROSS SECTION EXCAVATION TUNNEL EXCAVATOR

PURPOSE: To excavate the unexcavatable portions between cutter headers by fitting multiple cutter headers to the front end section of a main body so that they are kept perpendicular to the advancing direction and the rotary shafts are kept in parallel with the advancing direction, and fitting a drum cutter head so that its rotary shaft is kept perpendicular to the advancing direction and in parallel with the rotary shafts of the cutter heads. CONSTITUTION: A pair of the first drive motors are driven to rotate a pair of cutter heads 2, the second drive motor is driven to rotate a drum cutter head 3, and a main body 1 is advanced. The first tunnel having a double enveloping cross section is precedingly excavated by the drum cutter head 3. Both side sections of the first tunnel is excavated by a pair of cutter heads 2 to form a pair of the second tunnels each having a circular cross section. The first tunnel and a pair of the second tunnels are connected to form a tunnel having an elliptic cross section as a whole. When the drum cutter head 3 is rotatively driven, the excavating force is increased. The excavation work efficiency of the whole excavator can be improved.
