PURPOSE: To provide an electronic unit which can recognize the specification or the operation method of a peripheral unit on the host-side, a data processing system having the unit and a data processing method in the electronic unit. CONSTITUTION: Manual information of a printer 1500 is stored in data ROM 132 in the printer. When information indicating the reading of stored manual information is inputted, corresponding manual information is read, and is transmitted to a host computer 3000. Only when the connected printer 1500 can be operated, the host computer 3000 displays the icon of the printer to CRT 10 and the reading of manual information can be indicated by indicating the icon by KB9. |
