PURPOSE: To reduce the overall size and weight of a power converter by providing a heat sink for dissipating heat transmitted from a heating element through the wall face independently from the case member, and an independent fixing member arranged around the heat sink. CONSTITUTION: Heat generated from a switching module 3 in a power converter 1 is transmitted through a case member 6 to a heat sink 7 and then transmitted from the surface of each heat dissipation rib 70 to a cooling medium flowing through each cooling path 71. Since the case member 6 (including a fixing member 9) is not integrated with the heat sink 7, the case member 6 can be cast or forged easily into a required shape. On the other hand, the heat sink 7 can be formed by extrusion or cutting regardless of the forming method of the case member 6 and thereby the heat dissipation ribs 70 can be arranged at a short interval. Since the required heat dissipation performance can be attained while reducing the size of the heat sink 7, overail size and weigh of the power converter 1 can be reduced. |
