PURPOSE: To enable access to an information bank with an IC card as an access key. CONSTITUTION: An IC card system 1 is composed of an IC card 2 storing issue number data and an information bank 3 integrating various kinds of information including personal information data on the owner of the IC card 2. In the case of performing access to the information bank 3, a microprocessor inside the IC card 2 calculates random number data sent from the information bank 3 with the issue number data, transfers the arithmetic result to the information bank 3 and contributes it to card discrimination. The information bank 3 receives the issue number data read from the IC card 2 by terminal equipment 5, transfers password data to be managed while being paired with the issue number data to the terminal equipment 5 and entrusts the confirmation of identity to the terminal equipment 5. |
