PURPOSE: To improve resistance to soft error due toα-ray of a system. CONSTITUTION: This system is provided with anα-ray sensor 19 for sensing anα-ray and a DRAM control part for controlling the cycle of a refresh operation for holding the storage information of a DRAM 202 based on theα-rays sensing result by theα-ray sensor 19. Before the unexpected software error of the DRAM 202 is generated due to theα-ray, the damage of storage data of the DRAM 202 is previously prevented by shortening the refresh cycle of the DRAM 202. A DRAM having anα-ray resistance lower than that of the DRAM 202 is applied as theα-ray sensor 19 to make the cost of such a memory system low.
