摘要 PURPOSE: To reduce the luminance fluctuation due to the number of lighting display cells by performing a luminance compensation while independently controlling the frequency of maintaining discharge in every scanning line. CONSTITUTION: A luminance compensating circuit is provided with a counter 1 counting the number of display data D for every scanning line, a memory 4 storing the counted value D11, a counter 2 counting the number of scanning times, a counter 3 counting the number of maintaining times, a selector 5 selecting either the counter value S11 or the counted value S12, a memory 6 storing timing data of maintaining discharge stopping and comparators 7 comparing outputs data MD1 to MDj with the S12 to output maintaining stopping signals SD1 to SDj. Then, the distribution of display data for every compensating unit display line is detected and the frequency of maintaining discharge for obtaining a desired luminance every compensating unit display line is calculated by performing a calculation with a predetermined luminance fluctuation coefficient in accordance with the distribution of display data and maintaining discharges are stopped when maintaining discharge frequencies are completed every compensating unit display line.
