PURPOSE: To provide an antenna system in which the length of the antenna is much reduced in the telescopic state. CONSTITUTION: In this antenna system, the length of the antenna is varied into at least a telescopic state and a retracted state. The antenna system has a coil antenna 15 having a function of supporting slidably aλ/8 rod antenna 11 whose upper end is fitted with a 2ndλ/8 coil antenna 20 and having a function of a 1stλ/8 coil antenna. In the telescopic state, the 1st coil antenna 15 and the rod antenna 11 are electrically connected and they act like aλ/4 antenna system, and in the retracted state, the 1st coil antenna 15 and the coil antenna 20 are electrically connected and they act like aλ/4 antenna system altogether.
