METHOD AND PROCESSOR FOR EDITING COMPOSITE DOCUMENT

PURPOSE: To pattern and display the hierarchical structure of data areas in optional section as to the composite document and to facilitate selecting and editing operation for a data area in an optical layer on a displayed pattern in the hierarchical structure. CONSTITUTION: A composite document display processing means 10 unites element data in respective hierarchical data areas of the compound document on one screen according to data area information 10a and displays them as the composite document 5 in a composite document area on a display device 2. A sectional line setting means 11 displays a vertical sectional line 6 in the composite document area on the screen and a composite document hierarchical structure analyzing means 12 detects data area in respective layers which cross the sectional line 6 by using the sectional line address 11a of the sectional 6 and the data area information 10a on the composite document. Sectional plane hierarchical structure data 12a for the sectional line 6 are generated. A data hierarchical structure display processing means 13 generates hierarchical structure pattern data 13a on the basis of the sectional plane hierarchical structure data 12a.
