<p>PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device whose visual field angle characteristic is good and which is bright and has good productivity. CONSTITUTION: This display device is a liquid crystal display device in which a TN type liquid crystal layer is held in between a lower side substrate on which pixel electrodes and TFTs 1, etc., are formed and an upper side substrate on which common electrodes, etc., are formed and pairs of polarizing plates whose axes of polarizations are orthogonally crossed are arranged in both out sides of upper and lower substrates and a pixel electrode is divided into sub-pixel electrodes 2, 3 and a control capacitance electrode 4 is formed via insulation film like covering one part of two sub-pixel electrodes 2, 3 and two sub-pixel electrodes 2, 3 are connected with a capacitor. Leakage lights from TFT1 parts and gap parts among sub-pixel electrodes 2, 3 and scanning and signal electrode lines 6, 7, etc., are interrupted by forming light shielding layers 5 in the inside of the upper substrate and, however, since light shielding layers corresponding to the gap parts between two sub-pixel electrodes 2, 3 are not formed, the luminance at the time of displaying white color is increased. Moreover, the leakage lights from gaps between sub-pixel electrodes are not caused by making the gaps between sub-pixel electrodes to be <=2 times the thickness of the liquid crystal layer.</p> |
