PURPOSE: To start a light modulation scanning means a little earlier and to shorten a first printing time by starting the light modulation scanning means, in accordance with picture element converting work progressing conditions with a picture element converting means. CONSTITUTION: A controller part 2 receives code information from external information equipment 5 and starts to convert the code information into picture element information. An electrophotographic engine part 1 starts a preparation operation required from the start of application with a preprinting signal issued from the controller part 2, in this stage. The controller part 2 monitors a picture element conversion ratio R in each specified time and substitutes T=(100×t-t0 ×R)/R for an elapsed time (t) and the value of the picture element conversion ratio R at this time. Where, time a little longer than that required for starting a laser scanner is defined as t0 . When T is bigger than t0 , it is judged that picture element converting work is completed within t0 and a prescanning signal for starting the laser scanner is transmitted to the electrophotographic engine part 1. |
