摘要 PURPOSE: To reduce the transmission loss of the ribbon of coated optical fibers by arranging the center line of a coated optical fiber array at a position where it is not aligned with the lateral center line of the ribbon of coated optical fibers. CONSTITUTION: The ribbon 10 of coated optical fibers has the center line C of its optical fiber array displaced by a displacement quantityδto above the center line L of the ribbon 10 of coated optical fibers. Consequently, the interval (s) from the outer peripheral reverse surface of the optical fibers 4 to the reverse surface (f) of the ribbon is the displacement quantityδlarger than usual (the center line of an optical fiber array is aligned with the lateral center line of a ribbon of coated optical fibers.) and the lower coating thickness is at least 50μm. Consequently, the local compressive stress in the thickness direction of the ribbon under surface (f) is sufficiently dispersed before reaching the under surface of the optical fiber 11 and no local large force reaches the under surface of the optical fiber.
