PURPOSE: To stabilize a discharge cell in a long term and prolong a service life of a plasma display panel by preventing the generation of migration generated by the DC bias between X and Y electrodes from being generated and eliminating the generation of a branche shaped projecting material. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with discharge cells 11 having three electrodes for light emitting displaies, a Y scanning driver 13, a Y common driver 14, an X driver 15 and an address driver 16 supplying alternately an electric discharge maintaining voltage between X and Y electrodes 7, 8 of the discharge cells 11 and also supplying the voltage for non-selection lines and an output adjusting circuit 12 including an ROM 12A making an erasing voltage whose conducting time is longer than that of the discharge maintaining voltage impress on the Y electrodes 8 of the electric discharge cells 11 in a halt period when the discharge cells 11 are made not to emit lights.
