A method for calculating the concentration of a cationic species (M<n+>) in ion chromatography using a membrane suppression reactor, wherein an eluent (HX) is suppressed by ions in a solution having opposite properties (a BOH base). The method comprises obtaining a more accurate estimate by conductimetry where the concentration of B<+> ions in the neutralisation solution that has passed through the membrane (1) is estimated.
