<p>A device for encoding an input video stream representing a series of frames by identifying each frame using an information quantity that differs from one frame to the next. The device includes a programmable-throughput video encoder (16), as well as a memory (20) with a capacity of at least one frame positioned upstream from the programmable encoder in the video stream, a second fixed-throughput video encoder (22) receiving the input video stream, and means (26) for comparing the quality of each output image with a reference value and controlling the programmable encoder to maintain quality at a predetermined value.</p> |
