A warp knitting machine has at least one guide bar (3), which carries yarn guides (4). The guides (4) are move between a normal position and a racking position. In the racking position, they are held by means of individual holding means (36,38) activated by electric addresses. All movable yarn guides (4) are coupled, via a spring element (37), to a slide element (31, which moves in the racking direction of the guide bar (3) and shifts all yarn guides per a stitches course form the normal position into the racking position and back into the normal position, with the exception of the guides held in the racking position by the holding means (36,38).
