The invention concerns a device for recovering a digital signal downstream of a low-pass transmission element, a level discriminator being connected downstream of the said low-pass transmission element and the switching thresholds of the level discriminator being variable in accordance with the output signal (32) from the transmission element in such a way that the switching times approximately coincide with the start of a signal flank. The device can be used to particular advantage in a circuit intended for the power-saving transmission of a digital signal via an optoelectronic coupler used in a subscriber circuit for connecting a subscriber to a data transmission line (1). The invention is used in bus systems.
