<p>A machine for making pairs of joined round filter bags, eg tea bags, joined together by an interconnecting web/tab 16 (see also figs 9, 14) comprises two contrarotating rollers 7, 8, at least one of which has cutters 11 arranged to cut the pair of bags 1 from a continuous web (1c fig 1) at the same time as their interconnecting web 16 using a single peripheral incision which may be due to a gap 17 in a region where two halves of a cutter 11 meet. A single ejector element 25-27 (see also figs 10-13) can push the joined pair of bags as one from the continuous web (1c fig 1), through a horizontal plate 23, to a stacking station (15 figs 10-13). The contrarotating rollers 7, 8 may have a clearance element including a base 21 and tongues 19, 20 to exert a radial force on the continuous web (1c fig 1) keeping it in the same horizontal plane after cutting. A suction port 36 may draw in the scrap of the continuous web (1c fig 1) after the pairs of bags have been removed therefrom. The contrarotating rollers 7, 8 may have spacer rings 30 to control the pinch pressure generated between the two rollers.</p> |
