The method involves displaying the message (12) on the display (10) until the message is acknowledge by the activation of at least one input element (11) by an operator. An acknowledgement message is stored contg. information about which message was acknowledged by operation of the input element.For sequential display of several almost simultaneous messages, the first is displayed until acknowledged and when the first has been acknowledged by activation of the input element or elements a further one of the messages is switched onto the display surface.
