DEVICE FOR PASSIVE INERTIZATION OF GAS MIXTURE IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT CONTAINMENT

FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed device for passive inertization of gas mixture produced within nuclear power plant containment in emergency situations depends for its operation on using chemical agents which react upon reaching definite temperature and release inertizing gas or gas mixture. Device is most useful for operation in conjunction with catalytic recombinators to extract hydrogen by oxidizing with the aid if available oxygen. Heat released as a result of this exothermal recombination may be used for heating these chemical agents to desired temperature, their reaction temperature being higher (by about 100 C) than that set up within containment in emergency situations. EFFECT: improved design.
