A solid blank (2) made of a green ceramic material is charged into a press (1). A piston (5) penetrates the press in the axial direction of the tubular part, and excessive material is ejected via a nozzle plate (15) on the side of the press away from the piston inlet.The boundary region (33) of the press, facing the nozzle plate, is so shaped that its inner wall determines the outer wall of the finished tube in its end section. The nozzle plate is inserted into the boundary region of the press with an annular protrusion, whose ID is larger than the OD of the piston. The protrusion forms a socket, groove, tongue etc. of the finished tube.
