The power tool (2) comprises a motor and a work shaft (3). It is fitted with a connectable base body (10), to which can be coupled a separate tool support (11) for holding the operating tool (40), such as a saw, grinding or polishing disc etc.The base body and tool support contain a coupling element (12,13) coacting in a torsionally rigid and self-centering manner, on positive connection. They consist of non-magnetic metal or ceramic material, or of plastics. One or both contain strong permanent magnets.
