PURPOSE: To improve shift quality in an opening region wherein a rate of change is high by a method wherein the width of an opening region being a learning unit is set to a value relatively lower than the width of an opening region wherein a rate of change is low, in a throttle opening region wherein the rate of change of input torque to an automatic transmission is higher compared with a throttle opening change. CONSTITUTION: A learning object parameter memory means (c) to store a value of a parameter related to a shift at each throttle opening region having a given width is provided. A value of a stored parameter is corrected by a correction means (d) at each throttle opening region so that the measurements of a physical amount measuring means (b) to measure a physical amount for indicating the shift state of an automatic transmission is adjusted to a value approximately similar to a target value. A shift is controlled by a shift control means (e) by using a value of a parameter after the correction.
