Turbine engine rotor blade platform sealing and vibration damping device

An apparatus for sealing a gap between adjacent rotor blades (10) of a turbine engine rotor assembly and for damping vibrations of the rotor blades comprises a platform seal (14) and a damping block (16). The damping block (16) is independent of but coupled to the platform seal (14). The damping block (16) selectively acts against adjacent rotor blades (10) of the turbine engine rotor assembly, forward of the platform seal (14), and therefore does not interfere with the platform seal (14). The coupled damping block (16) and platform seal (14) may be installed in the rotor disc (18) prior to installation of the adjacent rotor blades (10). The block (16) may be shaped to direct air through the turbine assembly.
