PURPOSE: To realize a shape of a two-leaf type main chamber to improve combustion in a main combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: Depth of a guide groove 30 is made deeper than a two-leaf type main chamber 20 in a diesel engine on which the guide groove 30 to guide a jet from the two-leaf type main chamber 20 and a subsidiary combustion chamber to a top surface of a piston 1. Consequently, an auxiliary combustion chamber 40 smoothly connected to the guide groove 30 is provided on a connecting part of this guide groove 30 and the two-leaf type main chamber 20, a stepped part 21 of a boundary part of the auxiliary combustion chamber 40 and the two-leaf type main chamber 20 is projected to the side of the guide groove 30 so that the jet is parted left and right, and the auxiliary combustion chamber 40 is connected to the two-leaf type main chamber 20 by a gentle slope 42 on which height of this stepped part 21 is gradually reduced toward left and right directions of the two-leaf type main chamber 20. Accordingly, the jet passing over the stepped part 21 and the jet rising along the slope 42 and flowing in the two- leaf type main chamber 20 stir air in the circumference and are strongly mixed, an air utilization factor of the top surface of the piston 1 is increased, and combustion is improved.
