PURPOSE: To restrain sticking and clogging in a blowing device to prevent the ignition, and to smoothen the blowing by controlling the grain size and the moisture of charcoal powder in the fixed ranges, at the time of blowing the charcoal powder by pneumatic transportation. CONSTITUTION: In the blowing of charcoal powder in the same way as the case of blowing coal powder, charcoal 12 stored in a storing coal vessel 1 is discharged through a discharging feeder 2 to form the powdery material having a prescribed grain size and moisture value under non-oxidizing atmosphere with a dry crusher 3. Thereafter, the charcoal powder is collected and recovered through a cyclone 4 and a bag filter 5, and fed to a receiving tank 7 near the blast furnace through a belt conveyor 6 and supplied into an injection tank 9 via an intermediate tank 8. By this method, the charcoal powder is blown into the blast furnace from a tuyere 13 through a carrying piping 10 by pneumatic transportation. At this time, the max. grain diameter of the charcoal powder is controlled to <=1/3-1/4 of the inner diameter of the carrying pipe 10 and the average grain size to >=50μm and the moisture value therein is to <=10wt%.
