PURPOSE: To make it possible to improve operability and quality and to adequately maintain an equipment by monitoring wear condition of a roll-shaped rotating body at all times. CONSTITUTION: The change rate of the circumferential speed of the roll-shaped rotating body which takes part in transporting of band-shaped products or is used to take up these products and with which the intermittent contacts with the band-shaped products exist, the duration time of this change and the load applied on the roll-shaped rotating body at the time of the contact are respectively measured (step 102). An index for determining the time for exchange is determined in accordance therewith (step 103) and the time for exchange is decided (step 104) by comparison of this index with a set value.
