PURPOSE: To obtain a polyamide-based deodorizing fiber with high washing durability by making a metallophthalocyanine compound easily and uniformly carried on a polyamide fiber. CONSTITUTION: Firstly, a treatment liquor containing pref. a carboxyl-bearing iron phthalocyanine of the formula (e.g. iron phthalocyanineoctacarboxylic acid) is incorporated with an inorganic alkaline substance (e.g. soda ash) and an acid-liberating organic compound to adjust the pH value of the liquor to 8-11 and completely dissolve the phthalocyanine. Subsequently, polyamide fiber, pref. nylon 6, is impregnated with the resultant treatment liquor, and drawn from the liquor when the liquor comes to <=pH 6, thus obtaining the objective polyamide-based deodorizing fiber excellent in highly sustainable deodorizing effect with the metallophthalocyanine fully and uniformly carried thereon.
