PURPOSE: To minimize missing of an image caused by clogging of ink jetting ports and failure of an image caused by an ink mark after replacement of an ink jet cartridge by a method wherein at the replacement of an ink cartridge, an action of cleaning a printing head, an action of printing an ink mark on recording paper, and the like are carried out. CONSTITUTION: When an image recording action is conducted after replacement of an ink cartridge, an action of cleaning jetting ports of a printing head part 29 of a printing part 27 is conducted, and recording paper exclusively used for printing an ink mark is fed to the recording head part 29. An ink mark is printed on the fed recording paper. After that, the paper is fed by a predetermined amount. Whether or not an ink mark has been detected by an ink mark detection part 31 is checked. If an ink mark has been detected, i.e., if clogging of the jetting ports has not occurred, a message that recording paper with the ink mark printed is recording paper exclusively used for printing an ink mark (e.g. 'Ink clogging has been checked.') is printed on the recording paper, and the recording paper is discharged. |
