SUPPORTING STRUCTURE FOR STEERING COLUMN

PURPOSE: To facilitate the falling of a steering column from a vehicle body side bracket at the time of the secondary collision of the steering column. CONSTITUTION: This structure is provided with a column fitting bracket 15, having nearly a U-shape and wherein the upper ends of both side parts 15b and 15c are fixed to a vehicle body side bracket 10 by one through bolt 19 while supporting for falling a steering column 2 to be inserted on one side in the axis direction of the steering column 2; and a plate 17 wherein one end is fixed to the one side part of the column fitting bracket and another end is offset from one side part to be fixed to the vehicle body side bracket.
