PURPOSE: To provide a dehumidifying instrument or a drying instrument with excellent dehumidifying or drying effect from which water stored in a container is not spilt by falling down by filling a highly water-absorptive polymer as a water-retentive agent together with a dehumidifying agent or a drying agent consisting of a deliquescent substance. CONSTITUTION: A container 3 is partitioned halfway up and down with a net and a deliquescent substance such as calcium chloride as a dehumidifying agent or a drying agent is placed in the upper side and a highly water-absorptive polymer such as polyethylene glycol or a carboxyl group-contg. polymer as a water-retentive agent is filled in the lower side. It is possible theteby to prevent water from being spilt by falling down while dehumidifying effect with the dehumidifying agent is maintained.
