PURPOSE: To improve a strength characteristic of a diaphragm and to stably generate an alkaline ionized water for a long time by specifying the diaphragm dividing an anode chamber and a cathode chamber and supporting the diaphragm with a reinforcing cloth specified its fiber diameter and worp/weft densily. CONSTITUTION: An electrolytic cell 1 is demarcated into the anode chamber 2 and the cathode chamber 3 with a diaphragm 4 consisting of an ion exchange membrane, and a raw water 5 (city water, etc.) is supplied to both chambers 2 and 3, and a direct current voltage is impressed to the anode 2 and cathode 3 to generate the alkaline ionized water in the cathode chamber 3 and an acidic water in the anode chamber 2. At this time, the diaphragm 4 is composed of perfluorocarbon polymer and is supported with the reinforcing cloth (about 30-100μm thickness) consisting of fibers of a hydrocarbon polymer (polyethylene, etc.) having 10-100 denier fiber diameter and having 60-160ply/inch worp/weft density. In this way, strength of the diaphragm 4 is increased and the alkaline ionized water having stable pH is generated. |
