PURPOSE: To prevent the contamination of the interior of the flow passages of a three-way stopcock with microorganisms by forming this stopcock of high- polymer materials contg. an antimicrobial agent. CONSTITUTION: This three-away stopcock is formed of the high-polymer materials, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, or a combination thereof into which the antimicrobial agent is incorporated. The antimicrobial agent is not particularly limited and is selectable according to applications of the three-way stopcock, for which the antimicrobial agents having wide antimicrobial spectra, for example, antibiotics, such as bacitracin, biguanide compds., such as chlorhexidine, compds. having surface activity, such as fatty acid, etc., are usable. The antimicrobial agents which are hardly elutable in the flow passage, are stable to heat and pressure applied during long-term use or at the time of molding and do not react with the medicinal liquid components, et., flowing in the flow passages, etc., and do not adsorb the medicinal liquid components, are usually preferable and hardly water-soluble biguanide compds. or their salts are more preferable. |
