<p>PURPOSE: To activate a frontal catalyser and a main catalyser early without thermally deteriorating the frontal catalyser. CONSTITUTION: This is an exhaust purifying device of an engine provided with an exhaust gas purifying catalyser device consisting of a frontal catalyser and a main catalyser on an exhaust system of the engine, and it is provided with a frontal catalyser activating means 34 to actuate at least one of an exhaust temperature raising means consisting of a retard control means 33 to raise exhaust gas temperature, etc., and an aftertreatment means consisting of a secondary air supply means to aftertreat unburnt components in exhaust gas derived to the exhaust system, etc., while the frontal catalyser is activated from a point of time when the engine starts is provided. Consequently, a main catalyser activating means 35 to actuate a dither control means 32 to periodically increase and decrease an air-fuel ratio by stopping actuation of the frontal catalyser activating means 34 after activation of the frontal catalyser is provided.</p> |
