PURPOSE: To easily conduct a high-density culture of a prokaryote and thus to obtain a fermented product in high yield, by adding ectoin to a high-osmotic pressure medium containing nutritious ingredients in a concentrated state. CONSTITUTION: This invention consists in conducting high-density culture of a prokaryote by adding a salt-tolerant factor ectoin separated from a kind of halophilic bacteria, Halomonas-sp.-KS-3 etc., to a high-osmotic pressure medium containing a nutritious ingredients in a concentrated state. This method enables to increase the growth density of cells and obtain the objective product (amino-acids, nucleic acids, organic acids, antibiotics, enzymes, etc.) in high yield and does not need the gene recombination technique. |
