PURPOSE: To provide a high-productivity method of producing cast-coated paper which is excellent in white gloss, printing gloss and printing surface strength. CONSTITUTION: The substrate paper is coated with a coating composition mainly comprising pigments and adhesive on its face and dried to form the coated layer for casting, then the rewetting solution is applied to the coated layer to plasticize the surface, pressed to the mirror-face drum to effect high-gloss finishing. At this time, heavy calcium carbonate is added to the coating composition as a pigment in an amount of more than 30wt.% based on the total pigments, and a polymer latex of 0.2μm average particle size is formulated to the composition in an amount of at least 10wt.% based on the adhesive, and further, the air permeability of the coated paper is adjusted to less than 700 seconds/100cc according to JIS P-8117, before the resolubilizing solution is applied.
