PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition for turbine oil, etc., produced by incorporating a specific base oil with a prescribed amount of an ester having a specific structure, exhibiting excellent activity to prevent oxidation and sludge formation and keeping high antioxidation property even after the use at a high temperature over a long period. CONSTITUTION: This composition is produced by compounding 0.1-5.0wt.% (based on the total composition) of a fatty acid ester substituted with 3-methyl-5-t- butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl group and expressed by the formula (R<1> is a 1-6C alkylene; R<2> is a 1-24C alkyl or an alkenyl) to one or more kinds of base oil selected from (A) a mineral oil having a kinetic viscosity of 5-200mm<2> /s at 40 deg.C and a total aromatic content of <=15wt.%, (B) a polymer of a 2-16C olefin or its hydrogenation product having a number-average molecular weight of 250-4,000 and (C) an alkylbenzene having 1-4 alkyl groups each having carbon number of 1-40 and the sum total carbon number of 6-40. |
