POLYETHYLENEGLYCOL-MODIFIED LECTIN AND ANTITUMOR AGENT

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject lectin for antitumor agents having low antigenicity and antibody-producing capacity and being safe and having long acting capacity even when administered to organism by binding a polyethylene glycol chain through triazine ring to lectin molecule. CONSTITUTION: This new polyethylene glycol-modified lectin is expressed by formula I [X is a direct bond or a group of the formula NH-Y-CO (Y is an alkylene which may have hydroxyl group or amino group); R is lectin; n is 40-500; m is an integer of >=1] and has low antigenicity and antibody-producing ability and is safe even when administered to organism and has long active property in organisms. The compound is obtained by reacting a triazine compound having polyethylene glycol chain and obtained from polyethylene glycoholmonomethyl ether expressed by formula I and cyanuric chloride with a lectin such as Phytolacca americana lection.
